About Laser Tattoo Removal
How Laser Tattoo Removal Works
Did you know your immune system tries to remove your tattoo the moment it’s put into your skin? Bacteria-eating cells called phagocytes are sent to remove the unwelcome, foreign ink material from your skin the instant a puncture wound is created. However, the phagocytes are significantly smaller than the tattoo ink particles, so only the tiniest ink fragments are removed at a time. This explains why tattoos are permanent but gradually fade and lose color over time.
Laser tattoo removal speeds up the natural fading process by shattering the ink particles into minuscule fragments that your immune system can more easily remove. Remember, the laser acts as an assistant to break down the ink. Your immune system completes the removal portion by flushing the broken ink particles through your lymphatic system.
Our Astanza Duality laser emits ultra-quick pulses of light energy over the unwanted tattoo during treatment. The ink particles absorb the light energy, heat up, and break into considerably smaller pieces that your immune system flushes over the following weeks. This process is repeated over a series of treatments. Depending on your desired results (complete removal or fading before a cover-up), the number of treatments will vary, but every tattoo will need multiple laser sessions for sufficient results.
Fading for Cover-Ups
Laser tattoo removal is the perfect tool for people interested in getting a cover-up. Cover-ups come with a fair share of limitations, no matter how skilled a tattoo artist is. Large, dark black pieces are especially tough to conceal due to their density and heavy pigmentation.
Laser tattoo removal gives tattoo artists a cleaner canvas to work on and can remove size and color restrictions, giving your artist the ability to design a piece you’ll actually love. Why settle for a good cover-up when you can get something great? As our technicians say, “Let there be light(ening)!”

Technology
The Astanza Duality
Laser tattoo removal is only as successful as the technology used, which is why Salvation Laser Center uses the Astanza Duality at our Rowlett studio. The Duality is a superior Q-switched
Nd:YAG laser that produces ultra-short pulses of light energy at remarkably high peak power for optimal ink shattering and faster ink clearance. This advanced laser safely treats all skin types and selectively targets ink without harming any surrounding skin tissue.
The Duality produces two essential wavelengths of light energy – 1064 nm and 532 nm – that target a wide range of tattoo colors, including black and red. Furthermore, this cutting-edge laser emits energy through a 5 mm homogenized square spot laser beam, promoting faster treatments and deeper penetration into the skin for optimum removal. The unique square spot shape distributes energy evenly, minimizing the risk of hot spots and treatment overlap. In other words, the Duality is the best laser for safely treating the skin and minimizing risks of side effects, especially for darker skin types.
Our Duality laser delivers speed, efficacy, and safety and is sure to meet your tattoo removal needs. Salvation Laser Center clients can expect to see fast, significant results after each treatment session.

Treatment Plan
There is no set number of treatments for laser tattoo removal. Every client, tattoo, and removal goal is unique, including the number of treatments needed. We use factors such as the colors in your tattoo, skin type, the location of your tattoo, personal health, ink quality and density, pre-existing scarring, and more to determine how many treatments you will need.
On average, most clients require a minimum of 3 to 12 treatments depending on your desired results (fading vs. complete removal). Treatments are scheduled 6 to 8 weeks apart to give your skin plenty of time to heal before your next laser session.
Treatment Packages and Discounts
Our treatment packages and discounts help clients bundle and save on multiple treatments. All treatment packages must be fully paid for before starting treatment.
Frequently Asked Questions
How many treatments will I need?
On average, most clients need 5 to 12 treatments to remove their tattoo entirely and 3 to 4 treatments for significant fading for a cover-up. During your free consultation, Salvation Laser Center will assess your tattoo and determine the number of treatments needed. Some factors we consider are your tattoo's age, size and location, ink density and depth, previous scarring, personal health, skin type, and more.
When will I see complete results?
Between treatments, a minimum of 6 to 8 weeks is required to give your skin time to heal. To estimate your results, multiply the number of treatments assigned to your tattoo by the 6 to 8-week healing period. Our Astanza Duality penetrates deep into the skin. It shatters more ink with each session, effectively speeding up the natural fading process carried out by your immune system and reducing the number of overall treatments needed to see complete results.
Does laser tattoo removal hurt?
The laser feels like a rubber band snapping or bacon grease popping against the skin. Clients with a lower pain tolerance have said the laser feels similar to applying a tattoo. Overall, the treatment is tolerable and takes a fraction of the time to apply a tattoo. Salvation Laser Center has skin-numbing solutions available to mitigate pain and alleviate the skin before treatment.
How long are treatments?
Laser tattoo removal is very fast, lasting as little as 1 to 20 minutes, depending on the tattoo's size.
Can you fade my tattoo for a cover-up?
Yes! Salvation Laser Center specializes in fading tattoos in preparation for a cover-up. Cover-ups are a popular solution for unwanted tattoos but are often limited to large, dark black designs to ensure the existing tattoo is concealed. Laser tattoo removal removes size and color limitations by creating a lighter canvas for your tattoo artist to work on. In addition to fading, Salvation Laser Center can completely remove unwanted tattoos or selectively remove a part of your tattoo (i.e., a name or element) while leaving the surrounding ink untouched.
How much does laser tattoo removal cost?
Salvation Laser Center provides free consultations and competitive pricing per treatment. Our prices reflect the skills of our certified laser technicians and unparalleled Astanza Duality laser technology. The cost per treatment is based on the size of the tattoo being treated. Since every tattoo requires multiple laser sessions, Salvation Laser Center offers discounts and treatment packages to help you bundle and save. Check out our pricing page, or follow us on social media for the latest deals.
Is laser tattoo removal safe?
Laser tattoo removal is the safest method for removing tattoos. Our Duality laser is FDA-approved and renowned by leading laser tattoo removal practitioners worldwide. Our laser technicians are highly trained in operating advanced Q-switch technology and received the designations Certified Laser Specialist (CLS) and Laser Safety Officer (LSO) from New Look Laser College, the world's leading laser tattoo removal institute. We use custom protocols according to each client's tattoo and skin type to guarantee the safest treatment and best results.
Are there any side effects?
Common side effects include temporary redness, itchiness, swelling, blistering, scabbing, and pigmentation changes. Again, all of these side effects are temporary and will heal over the weeks following treatment. Salvation Laser Center provides aftercare instructions to help you care for your skin outside of our practice.
